Don’t Stress Over Holiday Shopping!

Don’t Stress Over Holiday Shopping!

Lists! Shopping bags! Red tags! What should I get Auntie Ruth? Didn’t I give her a scarf last year? Scented candles? What scent does she like? Is the shop having a sale? Which one has the bigger collection? Ouch, my back hurts again! Gah!

Holiday shopping can be a very stressful event, especially when the holidays are coming up soon and you haven’t finished your shopping. Some people might believe that holiday shopping with their family is more stressful than it needs to be, but that is far from the truth. I have put together some simple and effective ways to help anyone overcome the stress of holiday shopping with their family.

1. Make a list of everyone you need to buy for

Making a list is the best way to make the holiday shopping process more manageable. It will help you prioritize people on your list in terms of who is hardest to shop for.

2. List down the stores they shop at and what they like to purchase from them

Listing down the stores that your family prefers to shop at can be helpful for holiday shopping because you know where they like to go, which means less stress on your end. Just remember that this way, you can have the opportunity to visit multiple different shops throughout the day instead of the same one over and over again.

3. Find out what their favorite holiday is – Christmas, Hanukkah, etc.

One way to mitigate the stress of holiday shopping is to find out what your family’s favorite holiday is. Once done with this, it will be easier for you to find out what they might like. It will help you choose a gift that will make them happy, rather than choosing a gift in desperation and hoping they like it. By doing this, you can reduce the stress of holiday shopping with your family.

4. Give them a gift card from the store so it’s easy for them to find something they will enjoy

A gift card is a great way to make your family members’ holiday shopping easy and hassle-free. You need to identify what you would like to give and then go ahead and purchase it for the recipient. If you’re not sure what they would want, there’s nothing wrong with giving them a gift card from that store so they can find something they will enjoy.

5. Have a plan in place before going shopping with your family members

To help you overcome the stress of holiday shopping with your family members, you need to have a plan in place before going shopping. You should spread out the stressful chores leading up to the holidays so that it doesn’t all come at once. To do this, you should start by making a list of the people on your shopping list and their likes, dislikes, sizes, etc. You should also take note of how much money you can spend on each person. There are lots of websites that will tell you what the appropriate dollar amount is for different age brackets, genders, or relatives.

6. Keep things light-hearted and fun

The holidays are a time of giving and spending time with family, shopping with those that you love is important. However, this can also be stressful for some people. That is why it is so important to keep lighthearted and fun during shopping trips so that you can enjoy your time together.
